Milan: Raf’s Final Bow

by The Sunday Mood

Raf Simmons showed his last collection for Jil Sander in Milan with a standing ovation and emotional good-bye. The collection departed from his “couture trilogy” of the past few years, but did not compromise on the luxury and detail of his aesthetic. This collection was light, airy and warm. It was a dream that embodied Raf’s “day in the life” scenario by seamlessly flowing from morning to day to night. From the models clutching etherial coats to carefully constructed dresses, the rawness of the collection was nothing less than refreshing.

The construction of the garments and the finite details within each reflected a sort of irony with the extreme simplicity of the gorgeous coats and outer wear. It gave the collection a perfect balance, also a curious spin, a desire to see more.
